Tech·Ed 2011 New Zealand kicks off with a 60 minute Keynote session presented by Norm Judah and David Kirk.

  • Norm Judah

    Norm Judah serves as Chief Technology Officer of Worldwide Services at Microsoft, focusing on technical strategy, innovation, technical communities, and enterprise services strategy.

    Prior to his current role, Judah played a key part in the newly formed Platforms, Technology and Strategy Group, reporting into the CTO-Business Platforms. He held the title of Corporate Vice President of Business Development, responsible for the incubation, development and delivery of Web services such as UDDI, and the integration of the .NET platform through managing strategic partnerships with providers and consumers of business applications. This included managing the relationships with key partners, including SAP, as well as strategic customer projects.

    Collectively, he has more than 30 years of experience in the systems industry, most of which has been spent trying to simplify and streamline the way solutions are built through well-defined application architectures. This is fueled by a passion to drive scenario-based product planning, working closely with customers and their applications.

  • David Kirk

    David Kirk is Chairman of the board of directors of Hoyts Theatre Group, Australia’s oldest theatre chain with over 400 screens in Australia and New Zealand. He is a Director of Forsyth Barr, one of the largest investment banks in New Zealand and Pacific Fibre the company planning NZ’s second subsea cables linking Australia, New Zealand and the USA. He is former Chief Executive of Fairfax Media Limited, the newspaper, magazine and digital publisher in Australia and New Zealand. David led the purchase by Fairfax of Trade Me in 2006.

    He was previously Chief Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and was captain of the All Blacks when they won the World Cup in 1987. David is President of the New Zealand Rugby Players Association, an honorary ambassador for the World Food Programme and is a Trustee of a number of charities. He is also the author of two books Black and Blue and The Road to Cardiff (with Graham Hutchins) and has been a regular contributor to newspapers around the world.

    David holds a medical degree, has an MBE, is a Rhodes Scholar, is a citizen of both Australia and New Zealand and lives in Sydney.
